Effective with the RapidIdentity Cloud 2022.12.8 release, RapidIdentity replaced Duo's traditional Duo Prompt experience and Duo Prompt delivery with Duo's next-generation authentication, Universal Prompt.

According to Duo, the Universal Prompt provides a simplified and accessible Duo login experience for web-based applications, offering a redesigned visual interface with security and usability enhancements.

Duo Prompt End-of-Life Notice

Support for the traditional Duo Prompt experience and Duo Prompt delivery via iframe ends on March 30, 2024.

In order to support the new Duo Universal Prompt while still providing users the ability to Start Over or Try Another Method, RapidIdentity now displays a prompt for the user to Proceed to Duo before redirecting them to the Universal Prompt.

Once the user is in the Universal Prompt, there's no opportunity for them to Start Over or Try Another Method. That is the reason for this new prompt.

Customers using Duo prior to the 2022.12.8 update do not need to make any changes in RapidIdentity for the Universal Prompt.

Hiding the Proceed to Duo Prompt

To enable users to seamlessly authenticate using Duo, a new configuration element will be added to the Authentication Policy configuration that administrators can select to disable the Proceed to Duo prompt.

When this soon to be released configuration setting is enabled, user accounts that are associated with an authentication policy set to use Duo authentication will go straight to the Duo Universal Prompt .

Note:

When the Proceed to Duo prompt is disabled, users will no longer be able to Start Over or Try Another Method before being directed to Duo for authentication.

Ability to disable the Proceed to Duo prompt is tentatively scheduled for the March 2023 Cloud Maintenance Update.
