Enhanced Forgot Username

RapidIdentity Cloud provides two options to configure as an administrator for users who have forgotten their username. Legacy and Enhanced. We recommend you use the Enhanced method.

Enhanced Forgot Username Behavior

Using the Enhanced Method, users who have forgotten their username once it has been configured will have a Forgot Username? link under the Username field

After clicking the Forgot Username? link the end user will be prompted to enter the credentials required to retrieve their username based on the configuration (Email Address or Phone Number)

Once they have entered their email address or mobile phone number, they will receive an email in their school email account or a text to their mobile phone with their username that by default looks like the email/text below

Enhanced Forgot Username Configuration

You have three configuration option for the Enhanced Forgot Username

1. You can modify the email template that is sent when a user clicks Forgot Username

   1. To do this you can go to Configuration - General - Email Templates and click on this item and the Edit button
      
   2. You can then modify the default template from above and click on Save
      

2. The other configuration option is the ability select with methods users can use to receive their username. Email and/or SMS

   1. To do this you can go to Configuration - Policies - Forgot Username and check the appropriate boxes then click save.
      

3. The other configuration option is the ability to remove the Legacy Forgot My Username Help Link from the login screen. This is recommended to be done when you configure the Enhanced Forgot Username policy
   1. To do this you can go to Configuration - Security - Identity Providers - Web Template and scroll to the bottom section of the screen to the Help Links section and click the X on the Forgot My Username option
