Topic: Request Module Webinar

Presenter: Kevin Satterfield

Description: We'll explore how users can make requests, how administrators can approve them, and how stakeholders can add new requests.

Entitlements with Requests

As an administrator, requests are an invaluable tool to manage user entitlements. It allows admins to view existing entitlements tied to users as well as team entitlements and other miscellaneous entitlements. The request catalog is the main hub for admins to create new entitlement requests and customize existing requests. This includes adding descriptions, icons, data classifications, expiration types, and binding types. The catalog also allows admins to assign access control using role-based or attribute-based access control to determine who can submit the request. Admins can also set active or inactive status for the request. To further customize requests, admins can also use workflows to connect the back-end logic with the forms and designate owners to the entitlement request. Through the catalog, admins can view existing requests, audit activity, and create new ones. For end-users, they will also access the Request module to view available entitlements and make requests. The request module makes it easy for end-users to find the request they need and submit it for approval.

Easily Track and Approve End User Requests

RapidIdentity’s Request Module allows administrators to provide requests to end users, who can submit any form of data that needs to be approved or denied by an approver. This can include changing names, elevating account access, and other transformations for their identity or record. End users will have fewer entitlements than administrators, and will also have limited access to categories such as activity and workflows. For example, a high school teacher may need to approve a student's workflow. This teacher can make a request for their account to be elevated to a domain admin, and fill out the necessary pieces for the workflow form. Depending on the logic set up by the administrator, this request can either be automatically approved or require an approver to grant access. The administrator will receive a notification of the request on their RapidIdentity dashboard, as well as an email about the request. The administrator can also view the activity of any end user by using the tasks pane. The administrator can approve or deny the request, or reassign it to another qualified manager or approver. Once the request is approved, the logic will elevate the user’s account, and the user will be granted the entitlements they requested. By using the Request Module, administrators can easily track requests granted and approved for end users.
