Article summary

A workflow request is made up of a series of steps, or actions. The steps determine the process by which the workflow is executed, and what information or actions are carried out based on the processing of the workflow. This article addresses the overview of the workflow steps (actions) and provides links to the specific articles for the various actions that can be defined.

In the workflow action pane, steps can be added or modified either on a new or existing workflow. All workflows have a default of a START and FINISH action, and steps can be added between them.

Adding a Step/Action

To add a new step/action in a workflow that is open in the workflow pane, click on the line between the Start Action and End Action. Two icons will appear, a trash can for deleting a workflow step/action, and a plus icon for adding a workflow action/step.

Clicking on the plus button will open up the ADD ACTION selection box:

Select an action from the list to enter it at the point of click in the workflow.

Action Properties

Each action will have a set of associated properties to completed that will determine the process that is followed for that action within the workflow. More detail on each of these is covered in the articles specific to the actions.
